What is there to celebrate for Hanukkah 5784 when Hamas still has over 100 Hostages in Gaza?

We prepare for Hanukkah 5784 remembering that Hamas still holds over 100 hostages.

As is tradition, this week, Jews all over the world will be reciting the Shehecheyanu which says

Blessed are You, Ad-nai our G-d, Sovereign of all, who has kept us alive, sustained us, and brought us to this season.

Do you find it interesting that the first time we do something in a year, we bless G-d for keeping us alive and bringing us to this holiday?

May we celebrate Light and Life this year.

If you want to know where we can find Light and Life, I can tell you. May Light and Life reach to the darkest of the Hamas tunnels.

In the beginning was the Word. The Word was with G-d, and the Word was G-d. He was with G-d in the beginning. All things were made through Him, and apart from Him nothing was made that has come into being. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.

John 1:1-4
